The crowds are thinner, the A-listers fewer and farther between–thanks (in no particular order) Zika, Brexit, Donald T***p, JetSmarter, but the parties still happen. This year’s early favorite for most ubiquitous is a tossup between Karolina Kurkova and Brittny Gastineau.

Every Sunday night is a big production at LIV, but this time, it was a quasi Art Basel kickoff with hip-hop royalty including Miami’s formerly ubiquitous Diddy, Miami’s currently ubiquitous Flo Rida, Khloe Kardashian-ex French Montana, and Mack Maine, plus former football player Sidney Rice and artist Alec Monopoly. Diddy and Montana sat together on the stage sipping on Diddywater, aka, Ciroc. Monopoly was there in his signature mask to celebrate his girlfriend’s birthday. (Photos: WorldRedEye.com).
Not wasting any time getting the party started, The Setai Miami Beach kicked off Art Basel Sunday night with a swank celebration of iconic Italian artist Gaetano Pesce. Hosts Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn and Paul Johnson gave the crowd a preview of Pesce’s Tree Vase XXL, the centerpiece of his latest sculptural series, installed in the intimate oceanfront resort’s newly renovated courtyard. Among the bold faced seen in the crowd: artist Chuck Close (pictured above greeting Pesce and posting with Rohatyn), French architect Jean Nouvel, one half of the arty Haas brothers, Nikolai (pictured above in his fancy Miami Heat sweater) Arison Arts Foundation’s Sara Arison, The Cultivist’s Laura de Gunzburg, and British art historian Sir Norman Rosenthal. Also getting a head start Sunday night, Whitewall Magazine and EAST, Miami kicked off Miami Art Week with a party feting the launch of the Third Edition of Whitewaller Miami. Artist Harif Guzman, who is putting on a private show later this week at EAST, was there posing with reality person Brittny Gastineau (upper left). Also seen was Peter Miller of NBC Sports’ Bass2Bill with Peter Miller. Brooklyn-based band VHS Collection performed and DJ Paul Sevigny spun.
Art macher Jeffrey Deitch was also out and about Sunday, seen squished at an outside table at Harry’s Pizza in the Design District, wearing a white linen suit and his signature glasses. Deitch arrived around 7 p.m. with, we’re told, a few artsy-LA film types. Deitch has teamed up with gallerist Larry Gagosian for an erotic exhibition, Desire, curated by Diana Widmaier-Picasso, at the Moore Building in the Miami Design District.

What becomes of Lonely Boy after his world on the Upper East Side implodes and Gossip Girl is gone? Why, he grows a beard and joins a band and plays at Art Basel Miami, that’s what! Gossip Girl alum Penn Badgley made his Basel debut Monday night with his band MOTHXR at the Life Of The Party event held at the Brickell City Center (Centre?). Now Brooklyn based and resident lonely boy no more, he and the band had throngs of fans hanging on every lyric as they played songs from their new album including their hits “Victim,” “She Can’t Tell” and “Touch.” The bearded Badgley was overheard telling a fan it was their first time playing in Miami and couldn’t wait to come back.
Oh, that kooky Karolina Kurkova, making funny faces for the camera as she hosted Maison de Mode’s private dinner and cocktail party last night on the roof at Perrier-Jouët’s Faena Bazaar, presented by in celebration of artist Mickalene Thomas. In between dinner and mugging for the cameras, Kurkova, who sat next to MdM’s founder Hassan Pierre, checked out all of the clothing on display at MdM’s pop-up store.

Katie Holmes was here last year for Art Basel and we all wondered whether she would come out of the Jamie Foxx closet. This year, her star was eclipsed by Sun Xun’s large-scale installation which was unveiled on the Miami Beach oceanfront, spanning a city block between 21st and 22nd Streets. Audemars Piguet celebrated the unveiling Tuesday with a cocktail party attended by brand ambassador Serena Williams, among 1,000 + others, mixing and mingling to the tunes of French DJ Martin Solveig. Following the event, Holmes and a “gal pal” had a quiet, late-night dinner at Macchialina, supping on a special vegan pasta made just for her by chef Mike Pirolo.
Heidi Klum celebrated her December cover of Ocean Drive magazine Tuesday at their annual “Art of the Party” event to kick off Art Basel at Roche Bobois Warehouse in Wynwood. Also there: Venus Williams, RISK, AHOL, TYPOE and Santiago Rubino, who in addition to Klum, each redesigned the iconic FURTIF desk which were being auctioned off. (Photos:WorldRedEye)
Perrier-Jouët celebrated the Opening Night of L’Eden by Perrier-Jouët in partnership with Vanity Fair Tuesday at Casa Faena in Miami Beach. Sarah Jessica Parker, in a pink Dolce & Gabbana party dress, surprised guests as she appeared on stage in a performance created by renowned theatrical director and owner of the The Box nightclub, Simon Hammerstein. The Divorce star recited a love poem by W.H. Auden and enthusiastically grabbed a guest’s glass to toast the room! SJP, who arrived in a Rosella Jardini dress and SJP collection bejeweled shoes, says, “It was a thrill to help Perrier-Jouet celebrate five years of partnership with Design Miami and an honor to be asked to perform at L’Eden in collaboration with Simon Hammerstein. I proudly raise my glass and toast the team who put together this entertaining and colorful evening.” Also seen in the crowd: Sasha Lane, model Shanina Shaik, DJ Ruckus, Petra Nemcova, Lady Victoria Harvey, and Alan Faena,(Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for Perrier-Jouet)
For their dining preview night , the Arjun Waney-owned restaurant DÔA had socialite Alexander von Furstenberg and artist Mr. Brainwash, who, following dinner, walked over to, uh, Brainwash’s annual bash at Wall where they were joined by reality person and Now TV-presenter, Audrina Patridge. The party went well into 4 a.m.
Diplo, Virgil Abloh and host Walshy Fire hit the stage Tuesday night at the Rum & Bass Block Party at Coyo Taco in Wynwood. Travis Scott joined in on the party with a mid-set surprise appearance and performance of a few of his top hits including “Antidote” and “Pick Up The Phone”. Superstar DJ and singer Martin Solveig also stopped by and joined his friends on stage. The party continued in the Coyo Taco lounge where Walshy Fire and Diplo, members of Major Lazer, let guests in on a sneak preview of their new song dropping in January 2017. The Daily Front Row Art Basel celebration at Faena became one of the largest and most sought after events on Tuesday night. At one point during the evening, over 400 anxious scene chasers were waiting at the velvet ropes, hoping for entry like refugees at Ellis Island circa 1897. The event marked the unveiling of Faena’s beachside dome, and those who made it through included Nashville’s Hayden Panettiere and husband Wladimir Klitschko, model Natasha Poly, Jeremy Scott, Alan Faena, designer Lorenzo Martone, artist Juan Gatti and, spawn of Sean, Hopper Penn.
Artist Harif Guzman, who is exhibiting his new artwork entitled Achilles Armor– Legend of a Mother’s Love, at the newly opened EAST, Miami hotel’s Art Room, was spotted last night having dinner at Quinto La Huella with CSI:NY star and BFF of President Obama, Hill Harper. (Photo: Pascal Bernier)

Miami Heat star Chris Bosh and wife Adrienne were seen Wednesday at POWERHOUSE’S 1st annual Herradura cocktail party featuring works artist Laura Kimpton of Philippe Hoerle-Guggenheim’s HG Contemporary gallery. At one point, Hoerle-Guggenheim and Kimpton were able to sneak Bosh away to the official gallery pop-up space showcasing many of the HG Contemporary artists throughout the rest of Art Basel. He had no idea that Bosh and his wife were such art connoisseurs and they loved hearing the stories and inspirations behind the art. (Photo:Guillaume Raberin – Krave Studios)
Diddy kicked off Art Basel with a wild party Wednesday at Rockwell where he partied with hip hop artist Travis Scott, Sammy Sosa, Tyson Beckford, and retired baller Kenny “The Jet” Smith, among others.
The real takeaway from the Wilhelmina 50 Golden Years party Wednesday night at Perrier Jouët’s L’Eden wasn’t the lines out the door, or even the models, but, rather, how good looking Sean Penn’s model son Hopper is. Also there: designer Maxwell Osborne and Russell Simmons, who arrived with reality people Lisa and Brittny Gastineau.
And here’s pix of the DuJour/Gilt/JetSmarter party at The Confidante, the one Kris Jenner bailed on in favor of her family’s developing plot line.

Paddle8 founder Alexander Gilkes, digital media honcho Thomas Hesse and the jet setty photog and art collector Jean Pigozzi hosted a Paddle8 auction slash luncheon Thursday at the Soho Beach house celebrating Brett Ratner’s Hilhaven Lodge Whiskey and selling pix from the Miami movie mogul’s storied 90210-home. Martha Stewart and Courtney Love, with 31-year-old fashion fotog Sebastian Faena (yes, that Faena–specifically a cousin of Alan’s), were found snapping poses inside the photo booth. Suck it, Snoop.
Perrier-Jouët hosted one final do Thursday at L’Eden by Perrier-Jouët at the Casa Faena. Fresh off the runway in Paris, Victoria’s Secret Angel Martha Hunt attended the fête wearing an all black ensemble paired with Tamara Mellon heels and a Fendi bag. The model, who was in great spirits and mesmerized by Simon Hammerstein’s show, made her grand entrance into the event riding on the back of a performer dressed as a phoenix, a la Bianca Jagger. Hunt and photographer boyfriend Jason McDonald were toasting to her success with friends and when asked how she was spending her weekend in Miami the five foot ten model replied “Sleeping and eating lots of unhealthy food!” (Photo: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for Perrier-Jouet)

Miami’s brand new ORA nightclub opened Thursday night with a Perrier-Jouët by Night party featuring model/actress Olivia Culpo.
A far cry from the Basel days of yore when this highly coveted dinner would attract the likes of the Sean Penns, Catherine Zeta-Joneses and Michael Douglases of the glam world, Thursday night’s annual dinner at The Dutch hosted by real estate tycoon Aby Rosen and wife Samantha Boardman had a more socialite vibe to it, with appearances by big NYC names that most people have to Google, and a few familiar ones, such as the embalmed Calvin Klein, Alex Rodriguez, Elle MacPherson, the most ubiquitous Karolina Kurkova and the once and always ubiquitous Paris Hilton. The Dom Perignon after party at WALL had pretty much the same crowd. Basel, we hardly knew ye. (Photos: BFA)
Calvin Harris was seen Thursday, checking out Hebru Brantley’s artwork at the Pirez Sisters Gallery pop-up in Wynwood hosted by Alex Pirez. Harris, along with LIV/Story chief David Grutman and friends followed the art gazing with dinner at Grutman’s Komodo Miami. After that, Harris headed to LIV where he performed for an audience that included Skrillex, and artists Mr Brainwash and Alec Monopoly, among others.

The most anticipated and prohibitive Art Basel event this year, the one that drew the real stars to Miami for a change, was unquestionably Madonna’s $5,000-$150,000 a ticket Raising Malawi benefit Friday at Faena. There, Chris Rock, and the man she called the one true love in her life, Sean Penn, and James Corden presented her to the audience, for whom she razzled, dazzled, rode a guy in the audience for charity, and avoided getting whipped by Ariana Grande’s most dangerous ponytail in a randy duet of “Music”. Regarding Penn, to whom she was handcuffed during an auction of personal photos taken during their marriage, “We’re reliving my marriage,” and “I’m still in love with you–I’m more in love with you now that we’re divorced!” We will keep an eye on that one. Madonna also locked lips with ubiquitous Miami-based supermodel Karolina Kurkova when a piece of Bulgari jewelry sold for $190,000. She also made some political statements, saying Standing Rock made her ashamed to be an American and dedicated Britney Spears’ “Toxic” to Donald Trump. She also was puzzled about Art Basel and what it’s become, saying, “If this is what the art world has become, I want nothing to do with it.” So there. Also seen in the crowd: Leonardo DiCaprio, billionaire Eric Schmidt, zillionaire Ron Burkle, magician David Blaine, and Courtney Love and comedian Dave Chappelle in seemingly, um, soaring spirits. More of the same celebrity at the $150,000 or more VIP after party, minus the shameless Miami husband and wife party crashers from whom we hear the charity is seeking retribution. And then there was Bon Jovi. At Faena. Huh? Yep, SiriusXM decided to throw a private Bon Jovi concert at Miami’s most Art Basely venue, and, while it had nothing to do with art, it was art. Up in the balcony there was designer Donna Karan sitting next to the embalmed Calvin Klein with his young Twinkie, one who probably wasn’t born when Jon Bon Jovi survived on AquaNet. Across the balcony was Bravo’s always animated Andy Cohen, fist pumping away to the sounds of his confused, Midwestern youth. And down on the floor, fans, just fans, who had neither an idea nor interest about Art Basel. Even Jon Bon Jovi had none, making reference to how odd it was he was in a hotel reminiscent of a scene from Eyes Wide Shut. And then he rocked. And rocked. And it was art.
